AFTER 17 months of operation, our Covid vaccination hub at Jubilee House is to close its doors next month.
The centre in Leyland, the largest vaccination complex in the area, has delivered record numbers of vaccinations since opening in mid-2021.
But as the final phase of the programme, the delivery of the Autumn booster to over 50s and vulnerable groups, nears completion, it has been decided to wind up operations after a hugely successful period of operation.
And NM Health Innovations’ Operations Business and Operations Manager Brian Hann paid tribute to the staff and volunteers who have helped run the programme at Jubilee House.
“This team and everything it has achieved has been without question one of the finest and most motivated group of people I have ever worked with,” he said.
“Day in and day out – you have all turned up at the centre and worked tirelessly to support many thousands of people through their vaccination. You have done so with great skill and professionalism – always caringly and importantly – cheerfully and safely.
“We have learned to live with Covid – and this is in no small part down to teams like ours, helping patients to have their vaccine – and therefore protect themselves and others.”
During its period of operation, staff at Jubilee House helped deliver 152,008 vaccinations,
18,649 First Doses, 26,103 Second Doses, 1,548 Third Doses to Immunosuppressed, 60,307 First Boosters, 10,016 Second Boosters and 29,545 Autumn Boosters.
On top of this, the team have also delivered more than 17,100 flu vaccinations, giving a grand total of 169,245 vaccinations.
Volunteers have helped an estimated 60,000 cars park in the car park, used approximately 1500 bottles of hand sanitiser at the front door, and given out well over 30,000 face visors and/or masks, and an estimated 200,000 people have come through the doors.
The team has also been to over 50 different care homes, more than 20 high schools, delivered vaccines via pop-up sites at Morrison’s Car Parks, Runshaw and Preston Colleges, Eaves Lane Day Centre, and Preston Fishergate Car Park and most recently across the road at Chorley House, and have carried out more than 2,000 home visits as well as delivering vaccines via surgery based clinics.
The Jubilee House hub will remain open with the usual opening times of Wednesday to Saturday until December 17 for pre-booked or walk-in vaccinations.
