Patient Newsletter Feb 15 Posted or Updated on 20 Feb 2024

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients are kept fully informed of developments at Adlington and Croston Medical Centres, Buckshaw Surgery, our Eaves Lane, Chorley site and our surgery sites at Lostock Hall. We hope these regular updates continue to prove useful.

We Are Hiring!

We are now accepting applications for vacancies within our small, friendly reception/communications teams at both Buckshaw Village Surgery and Adlington Medical Centre.

Hours are 26.25 per week with morning and afternoon shifts, work pattern to be negotiated. We are also open to some flexibility over number of hours worked.

Experience in this field or similar is desirable but not necessary as full training will be given.

To apply, please send a CV and contact details to aimee.clay@nhs.net or drop off your CV and contact details at any of our surgeries.

NHS Talking Therapies

If you are struggling with feelings of depression, excessive worry, anxiety, post-traumatic stress or obsessions and compulsions, NHS Talking Therapies can help.

The service is effective, confidential and free, and though launched only recently, it has already been used by more than 40,000 people.

If you wish to use NHS Talking Therapies, you can do so via your own GP who can refer you to the service, or you can refer yourself via this link

If you wish to self refer but have problems accessing the internet, contact your surgery and our reception team will be happy to help you.

Cancer – Early Diagnosis Campaign

Are you worried about possible cancer symptoms? Don’t carry that worry with you.

We know many people worry about cancer but sometimes put off getting checked because they hope the symptoms will go away or think they will get bad news.

But finding cancer early makes it more treatable and can save lives.

If you are worried about a symptom that could be cancer, please contact your surgery and make a GP appointment.

To rule out cancer, your GP may refer you for tests, but remember whatever the result, your NHS is here for you and will deal with your case as quickly as possible.

Ukraine and Homeless Appeals

We have this week delivered another batch of donated items to The Chorley Support for Ukraine group’s depot and the items are now on their way to Ukraine where they are desperately needed.

We are continuing to accept any toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets, towels, coats or sleeping bags you can spare for both the Ukraine appeal and the Chorley Homeless Group.

Please drop them off at any of our surgeries during opening hours and as usual, mark your bags accordingly if you’ve a preference as to which appeal you wish your items to go to.
