Weekly Patient Newsletter - Wednesday, June 1 Posted or Updated on 2 Feb 2023

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Bank Holiday Opening Times

Please note that all our surgery sites will be closed from tomorrow, Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5 inclusive due the Bank Holidays marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. During this time, please call 999 in the event of an emergency or 111 in the case of non-emergency calls.

Our sites reopen at 8am on Monday, June 6 with normal opening hours from this day onwards.

Surgery Safety

You may well have seen reports this week in the national media that violent attacks in GP surgeries have doubled in less than five years according to an official report.

The number of assaults resulting in injury has also almost doubled.

We are sure you will agree that this is very worrying and we have as many of you will know experienced attacks and verbal abuse at our own surgeries.

Our staff have the right to carry out their duties without physical or verbal abuse and threats and we hope all our patients respect this. We do of course thank the vast majority of patients who are polite and respectful to our staff at all times.

Ukraine Appeal

All items donated up to this week have now been delivered to the central collection depot for the Chorley & District Support for Ukraine group.

Stuart Clewlow who oversees the operation told me the group were very grateful for your donations.

Previous deliveries were made to the refugee camps in eastern Poland but your most recent donations have been delivered to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv from where they were being distributed to the areas in need.

We are still accepting toiletries, ladies' sanitary products, baby items, non-perishable foods, tins of dog and cat food and also items of clothing and shoes as long as they are clean and in good condition.

Please drop them off at one of our surgeries at any time during opening hours.

Our staff will be on hand to assist you if needed.

Prescriptions and Walk-In Clinic

We would politely ask that all patients calling our surgeries to order prescriptions please do so after 10.30am.

We appreciate that some of our patients are only able to call in the early part of the day and that others may have urgent concerns re a prescription and need to speak to our staff about these while ordering, and we will continue to accept these calls earlier in the day.

However, for all other prescription requests, it would be much appreciated if patients could call after 10.30am.

Please could patients also note that the Monday walk-in clinic at Croston Medical Centre, which is for CMC patients only, begins at 8.30am not 8am.
