Weekly News Update 5 Posted or Updated on 15 Feb 2022

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. On this occasion, it has quickly followed the previous newsletter which was slightly late in being circulated, but in view of further developments we are keen to update our patients.

Covid Vaccination Programme

We are proceeding as quickly and safely as possible with our Covid vaccination programme.

Clinics will be taking place over this weekend, March 27-28, at our vaccination hub Buckshaw Village Surgery and on several days next week as we proceed with the rollout of the programme as quickly and safely as supplies and regulations allow.

As per previous advice, any of our remaining patients in cohorts 1-9 ie those over the age of 50 or those under 50 with underlying medical conditions, should contact us for an appointment to be arranged.

We would however request anyone awaiting their second dose not to call us unless specifically requested to do so as you will be contacted as soon as a second dose appointment becomes available.

Please could all patients awaiting their second dose be assured that an appointment will definitely be made for you within the 12 week time limit advised by current manufacturers’ guidelines.

However, due to the logistics of our delivery schedule, appointments may only be made a very short time in advance.

We would further advise that the situation for both first and second vaccines may change at any time due to a number of factors including supply issues or changes in Government guidelines.

We would therefore ask all patients to regularly check this website or our Facebook and Twitter accounts which will be updated as soon as any further information becomes available.

Phone System

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make every effort to complete the process of installing our new upgraded phone system.

As previously advised, we are fully aware of the problems patients have experienced while accessing our sites across the group by phone and we sincerely hope the new system will alleviate many of those problems.

Lancashire Post article

We hope you all saw the full page feature in the Lancashire Post last week in which our owner and clinical lead Dr Nimal Muttucumaru offered his advice on maintaining fitness and health during lockdown and as we prepare for lockdown regulations to be relaxed.

You can see a copy of this very interesting and useful piece on this website.

New team members

We are pleased to advise that we have strengthened our communications and administration team with the addition of two new members of staff.

Hayley Severn and Natasha Barlow have previous experience working at medical practices and will be assisting in a wide range of tasks across the group.

We would like to welcome both on board.
