Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Covid Vaccination Programme Update

Our Covid vaccination programme is now continuing as quickly as possible in line with new Government directives.

Booster vaccinations are now available to anyone aged 18 and over and those aged 16+ with a range of health conditions specified by NHS England, but please note in all cases your second dose must have been at least three months ago.

In addition, those aged 12-18 are eligible for second doses but there must be a 12 week gap since their first dose. However, if in an at risk group, they will be eligible after eight weeks.

We are also continuing to offer first doses to anyone aged 12 years or over.

Please note in all cases, anyone aged 18+ who has had Covid must wait 28 days since initial diagnosis before having any jab, and those under 18 must wait 12 weeks from diagnosis.

All vaccinations are taking place at Jubilee House, Centurion Way, Leyland PR26 6TR.

Normal opening hours are: 8am-7.40pm Wednesday to Saturday, closed for lunch 1-2pm. You can attend as a walk-in or make an appointment via the NHS app.

Opening times from this week onwards are as follows.

Today, Thursday, December 30: Normal opening hours.

Friday, December 31 – 9am-5pm, closed for lunch 1pm-2pm.

Saturday, January 1- Tuesday, January 4: closed.

Wednesday, Jan 5 onwards: normal hours.

If you have any queries, please call the designated 119 Covid line or visit the NHS website.

Please do not call our surgeries unless you are housebound and require any of the jabs, in which case please call your own surgery to request a home visit.

Surgeries – Opening Hours

We are open as normal today, Thursday, December 30 and tomorrow, Friday, Dec 31.

We will be closed on Monday, January 3 and reopen at 8am on Tuesday, January 4 with normal opening hours from this time onwards.

Outside these times, normal procedures apply ie call 111 for all issues except for emergencies, in which case you should call 999.

Staff Absences

As is the case with many other workplaces, we have been badly hit by the latest wave of Covid in terms of staff absences.

This situation has worsened in the last few days and we have had no option but to cancel a number of clinics when the Clinician involved has tested positive for Covid or has been forced to self-isolate.

In these cases, we are making every effort to switch appointments to clinicians who are still working, but there may be occasions where appointments are postponed and others where face to face appointments have by necessity had to be switched to phone appointments.

We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience caused by changed or cancelled appointments, and we thank you for your patience on these issues.

Please note we are also doing our best to redeploy non-clinical staff around our surgeries to provide administration and reception cover wherever possible.
