Weekly News Update 7 Posted or Updated on 15 Feb 2022

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Covid Vaccination Programme

We are now vaccinating all patients over 45 years old for their first dose of the Covid vaccine.

If you are patient registered at any of our surgeries, you will have already received your invitation for your vaccine.

If you live with or know of any other person over 45 who wishes to have their vaccine, they should make contact with us to book a slot.

As per the recent NHS guidance, we have temporarily stopped offering first doses to under 30 year olds in cohort 6 the Astra Zeneca (AZ) vaccination.

Those in this cohort who still require vaccination should make contact with us for a future appointment for an alternative vaccines.

Please note those who have received a first dose of the AZ vaccine should still come for their second vaccination as normal.

We would ask all patients to regularly check this website or our Facebook and Twitter accounts for any further updates..

Phone system

We are pleased to advise that our upgraded telephone system is now almost ready to come into operation at all sites in the group.

The final sections of work are now being completed and staff training is now ongoing in time for the imminent activation of the new system.

The system has many upgraded features and a greatly increased capacity and we are very optimistic many of the issues faced by patients will be alleviated.

We would like to thank all our patients for their continued patience on this matter.

Collection of medical/clinical waste

We have had a number of inquiries from patients in respect of how they can arrange the collection of medical and clinical waste from their homes.

These collections are offered by local councils and there are slightly different arrangements depending on which council area you reside in.

Please see the news piece on the website or click on the new section to the left of the website for full details and guidance.

Update on reopening of sites

As you will know, the relaxation of Covid arrangements by the Government is continuing.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and will advise as soon as there any changes in the current restrictions with regards to visiting our surgeries in person.

In the mean time, the present arrangements will continue and all initial GP appointments will be by telephone triage only.
