Weekly news update 4 Posted or Updated on 15 Feb 2022

Welcome to the fourth of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres and our sites at Lostock Hall. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Phone System

We are fully aware of the problems patients have experienced while accessing our sites across the group by phone and we totally understand your frustration.

As previously advised, we are currently in the process of installing a new, significantly upgraded phone system to replace the NHS system which is currently operating.

The final stage of installation is now being completed and staff training is being arranged, and the activation of the new system is imminent.

We thank you for your patience and would reiterate once again that every effort is being made to address the issue and we sincerely hope the new system will alleviate many of those problems.

Covid Vaccination Programme

We are proceeding as quickly and safely as possible with our Covid vaccination programme.

Please see the news story on our website for a full update.

We would particularly request anyone awaiting their second dose not to call us as we will contact you as soon as a second dose appointment at our vaccine hub Buckshaw Village Surgery becomes available.

We would advise that the situation for both first and second vaccines may change at any time due to a number of factors including supply issues or changes in Government guidelines.

We would therefore ask all patients to regularly check this website or our Facebook and Twitter accounts which will be updated as soon as any further information becomes available.

Reopening of Surgeries

You will be fully aware that access to surgeries at all our sites has been severely restricted due to the Covid outbreak.

However, we would advise that subject to the situation evolving satisfactorily, we will soon be announcing changes involving increased building access as the Government restrictions lift.

Full details will be posted on the website and on our Facebook page as soon as they become available.

In the mean time, urgent and routine appointments with GPs, nurse practitioners and practice nurses can continue to be made in the normal way, though for the time being all initial GP appointments will continue to be by telephone triage.

Podiatry Clinics

We hold regular podiatry clinics at Buckshaw Village Surgery and these are continuing despite the Covid situation and the site being utilised for the vaccine rollout.

All our patients are eligible for these clinics, which deal with foot and ankle issues, and if you wish to book an appointment, please call us for details.

Foot health is very important particularly in these testing times and we would urge our patients to take full advantage of this service.
