THERE were celebrations in the sunshine this week as the Mayor of Chorley Cllr Tommy Grey officially opened the town’s new Eaves Lane Surgery.
And the Speaker of the House of Commons and Chorley MP the Right Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle, who also toured the new facility, expressed his delight that it had now opened its doors.
“It’s great to see this place open and the facilities are fantastic,” said Sir Lindsey.
“It’s been a long battle and we’ve been waiting for this kind of facility for this area of Chorley for a long time, and it’s wonderful that it is now up and running.
“Eaves Lane and this whole area of Chorley have had some tough times but it’s great that proiects such as this one have been finalised.”
The gleaming new facility, which will be operated by NM Health Innovation on behalf of the NHS, forms part of the new Tatton Gardens development at the south end of Eaves Lane, which also includes a community café and care accommodation.
The site was formerly a bus depot which had lain empty for some time after the depot closed some years ago.
It has been redeveloped following a £5.2m investment and Cllr Grey said he was delighted to officially open the surgery and to see the next stage of the huge project, which has been backed by Chorley Council, come to fruition.
Dr Nimal Muttucumaru, owner and clinical lead of NM Health Innovation, said he was delighted and honoured to welcome the Mayor and Sir Lindsay and also Chorley Council Executive Leader Cllr Alistair Bradley who accompanied the MP on his tour of the surgery.
Dr Muttucumaru said the surgery was now in full operation with a resident GP and other clinical and reception staff.
He explained that former patients of the old Eaves Lane Surgery at the north end of the thoroughfare, which closed at the start of the pandemic, would be automatically registered at the new surgery but registrations from other new patients were also being welcomed.
If you wish to register, please call in at the site to complete a short forms or complete the online version at www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk .
If you have any queries with either method of registration, please call in at the surgery or contact the facility by phone on 01772 376600.
