Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Staying Well in Hot Weather
We’re in a prolonged spell of hot, dry weather and while we can enjoy the sunshine, the conditions can cause their own health risks.
The main problems are dehydration and heat exhaustion, and the most vulnerable people are babies, the elderly, those who live on their own or in a care home and people who have a serious or long-term illness.
Keep out of the heat if you can, and if you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter.
Have cold food and drinks, avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes.
And finally, keep your living space cool by closing windows during the day and opening them at night when the temperature outside has gone down.
Building Work Affecting Parking at Buckshaw Village Surgery
We have been advised that the planned work on the surgery building at Buckshaw is likely to continue for some days.
Due to the positioning of scaffolding, the disabled car park spaces have as previously advised been temporarily relocated to the opposite side of the car park.
There are also fewer than normal spaces available so would request patients allow extra travel time for appointments in case they need more time to find a parking spot.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
Temporary Surgery Closure – Thank You
Thank you at all our patients for their patience and understanding when our surgeries and phone lines were closed on Tuesday afternoon for staff training.
This was essential NHS training and we hope it will help us in our aim of offering the best service possible at all times.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
The weather may be warmer now but The Chorley Homeless Group are still receiving a lot of requests for supplies of items such as sanitary products, toiletries, shoes, clean duvets, towels and non-perishable food items.
The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group are also seeking donations of these items as the war situation in the country shows no sign of improvement.
If you have any donations, they would be gratefully received and you can drop them off at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.
Please mark your bags accordingly if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
