World Breastfeeding Week
It’s World Breastfeeding Week and NHS England is encouraging mothers in the region to breastfeed.
While breastfeeding rates in the North West are improving with 62 per cent of babies receiving breastmilk as their first feed in 2023-2024, the region is still behind the national average.
Breastfeeding provides the best possible nutritional start in life and protection from infections, and Government advice is to exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life, after which other drinks and food can be introduced alongside breastmilk.

New NHS Appointments System
As we have previously advised, a new appointments system is being brought in by the NHS across the whole country on October 1.

If you or your friends or family do not have internet access and would like a hard copy, please call at your own surgery and our staff can provide one for you.
Mounjaro and Oral HRT
We would confirm that as previously advised, the Mounjaro/tirzepatide medication is not available locally so please do not make GP appointments to try to arrange Mounjaro on prescription.
Some patients may qualify for the medication based on strict eligibility criteria and for more information, please see the articles elsewhere in the news section of our website where you can also find details of concerns over the effects of Mounjaro on oral HRT treatment.
We will advise via this newsletter, our website and social media channels as soon as there are any updates.
If you do not have internet access, call at your surgery and ask for a printed copy of our website articles.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
Donations of items for The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group and The Chorley Homeless Group, can be dropped off at any of our surgeries during opening hours.
We are accepting sanitary products, toiletries, shoes, clean duvets, towels and non-perishable food items.
Please mark your bags accordingly if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
