Weekly Patient Newsletter - Thursday, December 2 Posted or Updated on 15 Feb 2022

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients.

Covid Vaccination Programme Update

You will no doubt have heard about the new guidelines being issued by the Government in respect of the Covid vaccine in the light of the recently discovered Omicron variant.

We are currently holding meetings with NHS officials on the matter and will advise via our website and social media channels as soon as revised arrangements are finalised.

Until such time, our existing arrangements apply, which are as follows.

We are continuing to offer Covid booster vaccinations to anyone aged 40 and over along with those living or working in care homes and frontline health/social care workers.

Those aged 16+ with a range of health conditions are also be eligible for a booster jab.

If you are immunosuppressed, you will receive a letter from your doctor or hospital consultant advising that you are eligible for a third dose. Please bring this letter with you when attending.

Please note in all cases your second vaccine dose must have been at least 182 days ago.

Those aged 16 and 17 are eligible for second doses but there must be at least a 12 week gap since their first dose. We are also continuing to offer first doses to anyone aged 12 years or over.

Those aged 12-15 are also eligible for second doses if they have certain health conditions.

All vaccinations are taking place at  Jubilee House, Centurion Way, Leyland PR26 6TR. Opening hours 8am-7.40pm Wednesday to Saturday, closed for lunch 1-2pm. You can attend as a walk-in or make an appointment via the NHS app.

If you are housebound, please call your surgery to request a home visit.

Please note in all cases, anyone aged 18 or over who has had Covid must wait 28 days since initial diagnosis before having any jab, and those aged under 18 who have had Covid must wait 12 weeks since diagnosis.

Walk-in Clinics – Temporary Suspension

We are sorry to advise that the recently introduced walk-in clinics at some of our surgeries have been temporarily suspended for safety reasons in the light of the situation in respect of the Omicron Covid variant.

However, this does not affect our vaccination clinic at Jubilee House which is open for walk-ins as normal.

All standard clinics and face to face appointments are going ahead as normal.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and as soon as there is any news on the reopening of the surgery walk-in clinics, we will advise immediately via website and social media channels.

Annual flu jabs and flu nasal spray

Patients eligible for an annual flu jab will be contacted by text or Accubook with an invitation to attend for their jab. Unfortunately we are not at present accepting walk-ins for annual flu jabs.

In respect of the flu nasal spray doses for children aged three upwards, these are being administered by the patients’ own surgery so all inquiries should be directed there.

We are open as normal up to Christmas Eve with usual surgery opening hours.

We will be closed from Saturday, December 25 to Tuesday, December 28 and reopen at 8am on Wednesday, December 29. Opening hours are normal from December 29 to December 31.
