Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients are kept fully informed of developments at Adlington and Croston Medical Centres, Buckshaw Surgery, our Eaves Lane, Chorley site and our surgery sites at Lostock Hall. We hope these regular updates continue to prove useful.
Medicare Unit Surgery
We would like to advise all patients that the Medicare Unit Surgery at Lostock Hall which has been offering a limited access service since the pandemic will soon be permanently closed for patient services.
The decision has been made as the building is no longer fit for purpose for patient services.
We would like to assure all patients that there will be no impact to patient access or care as you will continue to access services from all our locations, including The Village Surgery, Lostock Hall which is less than 100 metres from Medicare Unit and was recently fully refurbished to meet modern primary care patient needs.
The date of closure is yet to be confirmed but is expected to be withing the next three to six months. The exact date will be communicated when established.
If you have any comments or queries, please email nmh.secretaries@nhs.net
Another New Addition
You will recall last week’s newsletter when we advised that our new GPs Dr Mahmoud Ahmed, Dr Daniel Anderson and Dr Usman Tawfik were now in post along with our new practice nurse Holly Gildert.
We are pleased to advice that they have now been joined by another GP, Dr Shyama Wijesuria, who will be working at both at our Buckshaw and Eaves Lane surgeries.
We are sure you will join us in giving all our new colleagues a warm welcome and we hope our newly strengthened team will give you our patients the best service possible.
Winter Weather
The snow and ice which have blanketed the area this week have made paths, car parks and other surfaces surrounding our surgeries very treacherous. We are making every effort to ensure these surfaces are treated and made safe wherever possible.
However, there are occasion when the weather can change quickly and we would urge all patients to take extra care when accessing our surgeries and also to allow extra time to get here for appointments as road and path conditions can cause delays.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
Many thanks to our patients for the donations you have recently made to both The Chorley Homeless Group and The Chorley Support for Ukraine group which have now been delivered to the respective depots.
However, in this bitter winter weather which has hit both our area and the Ukraine, your donations are more desperately needed than ever.
If you have any toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets, towels, coats or sleeping bags you can spare, please drop them off at any of our surgeries during opening hours.
Please mark your bags if you have a preference for which appeal you wish them to go to.
