Patient Newsletter June 26 Posted or Updated on 26 Jun 2025

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.

Parking at our Surgeries

Following the completion of the building work at Buckshaw Village Surgery, the car park is now fully open and the disabled car park spaces, which had been temporarily moved, are now back in use in their usual position.

However, we would request that all patients using the car park or who are parking near our surgeries to attend appointments do so safely and legally and ensure their vehicle does not obstruct neighbouring residents or businesses.

A reminder also that we no longer own the former Medicare Surgery site at Lostock Hall so patients attending appointments at The Village Surgery (TVS) are advised not to use the Medicare car park.

Temporary Surgery Closure

Please be advised that essential training which is being delivered to NHS staff nationwide is taking place this Tuesday, July 1.

On this date all our surgery sites will close at 12.30pm on the day and all phone lines will also be closed from this time.

With the exception of evening appointments with our enhanced service, there are no pre-booked appointments on that afternoon.

All surgeries will reopen as normal the following day, Wednesday, July 2, with phone lines open at 8am and doors open at the usual time of 8.30am.

Hay Fever

Visits to the hay fever advice section on the NHS website have more than doubled in recent week as the UK experiences hot weather conditions.

The most common symptoms of the condition include sneezing, coughing, a runny or blocked nose, red, itchy, or watery eyes, but can also include headaches and earache.

If you suffer from hay fever and need more information, please call in at any of our surgeries or follow the link here.

And you can also check out the latest of our clinical lead Dr Muttucumaru’s regular medical columns in the soon to be published July edition of the ‘Friends of Buckshaw’ magazine which comprehensively covers hay fever causes, symptoms and treatments.

Homeless and Ukraine Appeals

The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group and The Chorley Homeless Group are still seeking donations of items such as sanitary products, toiletries, shoes, clean duvets, towels and non-perishable food items.

You can drop them off at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.

Please mark your bags accordingly if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
