Newsletter - Thursday, September 30 Posted or Updated on 15 Feb 2022

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Covid Vaccination programme

Our Covid vaccination booster programme is now in full operation and is being run in conjunction with our regular annual flu jab programme.

The team are currently out and about giving booster and flu jabs to care home residents and staff and we are also continuing to host our regular clinics at our vaccination hub at Jubilee House, Centurion Way, Leyland PR26 6TR.

We are offering booster and flu jabs at Jubilee House to adults aged 50 plus, front line health care workers and those aged 16-49 with a range of underlying health conditions agreed by NHS England and JCVI along with adult household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals.

You can choose to have both jabs together or either one but please note there must be at least a six month gap between your second jab and booster.

The clinics are open from 8am to 8pm – closed for lunch 1pm-2pm – from Wednesday to Saturday, and you can make appointments via the NHS app or call as a walk-in, though please note last walk-in 7.40pm.

We are also still offering first and second jabs to anyone over 16 and single jabs to 12 to 15-year-olds who for any reason have not been vaccinated via the in-school programme, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian and have their consent.

On-site appointments

We have received feedback from patients unhappy at appointments being moved to other surgeries, and we realise this is particularly difficult for those living in rural areas or who have transport issues.

With this in mind, we are now making every effort to ensure no appointments are moved unless this is absolutely unavoidable.

We are also moving more of our clinics across the sites with, for example, regular blood clinics and first call physio appointments now being held at Croston Medical Centre.

Please call our reception staff or call in at our surgeries in person for details.

Staff illness and absence

While we are thankfully emerging from the worst of the pandemic, staff levels continue to be affected by both sickness and self-isolation.

When this occurs, we will continue to make every effort to maintain service levels and reallocate appointments to working staff, but there may be occasions when appointments are unavoidably cancelled and rearranged.

We apologise for this and thank you for your patience on the matter.

Receptionist/Administration Vacancy

We are currently looking to strengthen our team and full details of the above vacancy are available on this website or on our Facebook page.
