Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) update
You may now be aware that the new weight management medication Tirzepatide -brand name Mounjaro® - is now available to NHS patients nationally.
However, while some people may currently qualify for the medication based on national eligibility criteria, it is not available locally at this point so please do not make GP appointments to try to arrange Mounjaro on prescription.
The group of people eligible under the national criteria includes individuals who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 kg/m² or more, or 37.5 kg/m² for people from minority ethnic family backgrounds and have at least four of the following long-term conditions:
- Non- diabetic hyperglycaemia or type two diabetes
- Hypertension ie high blood pressure.
- Dyslipidaemia.
- Established cardiovascular disease.
- Diagnosed obstructive sleep apnoea. For more information, please visit the Lancs & South Cumbria ICB site via this link
Temporary Surgery Closure – Thank You
Thank you at all our patients for their patience and understanding when our surgeries and phone lines were closed on Tuesday afternoon for staff training.
This was essential NHS training and we hope it will help us in our aim of offering the best service possible at all times.
Hay Fever
Visits to the hay fever advice section on the NHS website have more than doubled in recent weeks as the UK experiences hot weather conditions.
The most common symptoms of the condition include sneezing, coughing, a runny or blocked nose, red, itchy, or watery eyes, but can also include headaches and earache.
If you suffer from hay fever and need more information, please call in at any of our surgeries or if you have internet access, search ‘NHS Hay Fever.’
Please also check out the latest of our clinical lead Dr Muttucumaru’s regular medical columns in the soon to be published July edition of the ‘Friends of Buckshaw’ magazine which comprehensively covers hay fever causes, symptoms and treatments.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group and The Chorley Homeless Group are still seeking donations of items such as sanitary products, toiletries, shoes, clean duvets, towels and non-perishable food items.
You can drop them off at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.
