Patient Newsletter Feb 29 Posted or Updated on 29 Feb 2024

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients are kept fully informed of developments at Adlington and Croston Medical Centres, Buckshaw Surgery, our Eaves Lane, Chorley site and our surgery sites at Lostock Hall. We hope these regular updates continue to prove useful.

MMR vaccination programme

You may well be aware via national media reports of the current Measles outbreak.

In response to this, a targeted number of local pharmacies will shortly be offering the MMR vaccine to children aged from 5 to 11 who are overdue an MMR vaccination.

These pharmacies have been selected due to their experience in the COVID children’s vaccination programme

The Broadway Pharmacy, Unit 13, Market Walk, Chorley, PR7 1DE is only pharmacy in the area covered by our surgeries which has been chosen to take part in the scheme.

The facility is the same site recently used in the Covid vaccination programme.

However, please note AS Facer Pharmacy, 66 Liverpool Road, Longton PR4 5PB and Aspire Pharmacy, The Concourse Shopping Centre, Skelmersdale, WN8 6LN, are also taking part in the scheme and these sites may be more convenient for some patients.

This is a walk in offer only and at this stage none of our surgeries will be actively calling patients in to the pharmacy.

It is expected the arrangement will be in operation by early March and we will advise as soon as further details are received.

Surgeries Temporarily Closed Next Tuesday

Please note all our surgery sites will close at 12.30pm next Tuesday, March 5 and all phone lines will also be closed from this time for essential staff training to take place.

During this period, please call 111 or if the issue is an emergency please call 999.

Our normal enhanced service will operate from 6.30pm that day and phone lines at all our sites reopen at 8am the following day, Wednesday, March 6, with doors open 8.30am.

Our Community Skin Diagnostic Hub

We are continuing to operate our Community Skin Diagnostic Hub from Buckshaw Village Surgery and all our patients using the service will now be directed here.

Patients are being referred to this service following an initial triage contact with their GP.

Ukraine and Homeless Appeals

We are accepting donations of toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets, towels, coats or sleeping bags you can spare for both the Ukraine appeal and the Chorley Homeless Group.

Please drop them off at any of our surgeries during opening hours and we will ensure they are transported to the appeal collection point.

As usual, mark your bags accordingly if you’ve a preference as to which appeal you wish your items to go to.
