Patient Newsletter July 17 Posted or Updated on 17 Jul 2025

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.

New Appointments System

You may be aware that a new appointments system is being brought in by the NHS across the whole country later this year.

A full explanation of the changes and what they mean to you as a patient can be accessed by clicking the link below to the article in the news section on our website. https://www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk/News/d6a14984-24b2-442b-af86-ec8d46067c47

If you have friends or family who do not have internet access and would like a hard copy, please call at your own surgery and our staff can provide one for you.

Heatwave Health Issues

The hot weather can be dangerous, and if you or someone else feels unwell with a high temperature, it may be heat exhaustion or heatstroke.

Symptoms include a headache, dizziness and confusion, loss of appetite and feeling sick, excessive sweating, cramps in the arms, legs and stomach and extreme thirst.

If someone is showing signs of heat exhaustion, move them to a cool place and get them to lie down and drink plenty of water or rehydration drinks.

Most people should start to feel better within 30 minutes, but if they do not improve, especially if they are having trouble breathing or lose consciousness, call 999 as they will need urgent medical help.

Measles Outbreak

You may have read reports of a measles outbreak in the Liverpool area and also about concerns expressed over vaccination rates.

The link below leads to a comprehensive round up about measles from the UK Health Security Agency which gives information on the disease, its symptoms and the importance of the MMR vaccine.

Homeless and Ukraine Appeals

We are continuing to collect donations for The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group and The Chorley Homeless Group and both groups have asked us to pass on your thanks for your continued support which is gratefully received.

If you have any items such as sanitary products, toiletries, shoes, clean duvets, towels and non-perishable food items, you can drop them off at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.

Please mark your bags accordingly if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
