Know Your Numbers Week Posted or Updated on 5 Sep 2023

Know Your Number week is a global campaign to raise awareness about the importance of checking your blood pressure, especially for those who are over the age of 40.

Around one third of adults in the UK have high blood pressure which rarely has noticeable symptoms but if untreated, it increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke.

You can get your blood pressure checked at many pharmacies, at an NHS Health Check appointment which is offered to adults in England and Wales aged 40-74, or at your local GP surgery. If you are a patient at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Chorley, Croston or Lostock Hall surgeries, you can make an appointment with a practice nurse for a check.

Alternatively, we have a blood pressure cuff machine in our Buckshaw Surgery reception area which patients from all our surgeries can use without the need to make an appointment. Click here for full instructions.

If you have had a recent blood pressure reading, you can use the NHS Check Your Blood Pressure Tool to understand what your reading means. You’ll also get information about what to do next.
