Patient Newsletter April 25 Posted or Updated on 26 Apr 2024

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept informed of developments and news which may be of interest to you. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.

Covid Booster Vaccinations

Many of our patients have in the last few days received text messages or other communications from the NHS advising that they should make arrangements for a Covid Booster vaccination.

We are not offering this vaccination at any of our surgeries but if you are in an eligible category you are able to make an arrangement to receive the vaccine.

Eligible patients for this vaccination are those aged 75 or over or who are residents in a care home for older adults.

If you fall into these categories, you will be contacted by the NHS and you can book your jab via the National Booking System by calling 119 or by logging onto the online system, which you can do via this link

If you have not been contacted, you will not be eligible and please note eligibility criteria is different from the Autumn 2023 jab.

Jabs in this area are being administered at Ryan Medical Centre in Bamber Bridge and staff at the centre will be able to answer any further queries by eligible patients when they attend for their jab.

Roadworks

Unfortunately the roadworks close to the Highfield Road/Southport Road junction by the Highfield pub/restaurant on the outskirts of Croston are continuing to cause delays and are affecting the journeys of many patients attending appointments at Croston Medical Centre.

If you have an appointment at the surgery or need to attend for any other reason and this location is on your route, please allow extra time for your journey.

Ukraine Appeal

We were delighted this week to help load up a big consignment of old medical supplies which were surplus to our requirements from storage at our former Medicare surgery onto a van bound for The Chorley Support for Ukraine depot.

We also loaded up a big quantity of donations from patients.

The Group have offered their grateful thanks and have assured us the goods will be welcomed in Ukraine very shortly.

We are continuing to accept donations for Ukraine and The Chorley Homeless Group.

If you have any toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets, towels, coats or sleeping bags you can spare, please drop them off at any of our surgeries during opening hours.

Please mark your bags if you have a preference for which appeal you wish them to go to.

A Day Late!

Apologies but for logistical reasons the newsletter has been published on Friday this week rather than the usual Thursday. Back to normal from next week.
