Patient Newsletter - Dec 7 Posted or Updated on 20 Feb 2024

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of developments at Adlington and Croston Medical Centres, Buckshaw Surgery, our Eaves Lane, Chorley site and our surgery sites at Lostock Hall. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Covid Booster and Annual Flu Injections Update

There is still time to receive your autumn Covid booster jab from our vaccination hub on Wigan Road, Euxton PR7 6JW, which is situated next to the Rowlands Pharmacy at the traffic lights opposite the Bay Horse pub.

The hub is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays only up to Thursday, December 21 with the usual opening hours ie 9.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm

Walk-ins will be accepted at all times but if you wish to book a time to avoid queuing when you arrive, you may do so via the online National Booking System.

However, please note the hub offers Covid booster jabs only and will NOT be dispensing annual flu jabs. If you require an annual flu jab, please visit a local community pharmacy.

If you are in an eligible category ie with certain long term conditions, carers, over 65s and health care workers, you should be able to obtain this jab free of charge from your local community pharmacy.

Outside these times, normal procedures apply ie call 111 for all issues except for emergencies, in which case you should call 999.

Pharmacy Christmas Opening Times

We are expecting to receive details of which local pharmacies are open during the Christmas and New Year holiday period within the next few days and as soon as these are received, we will pass them on to you via our website, weekly newsletter and social media channels.

We will also advise latest dates you can order your medication in order for you to receive it in time before the holiday period.

Homeless and Ukraine Appeals

We have had a high amount of donations for the above appeals recently and both the Chorley Homeless Group and the Chorley Support for Ukraine group would like to pass on grateful thanks for your fantastic generosity and time and trouble in dropping off donations.

Both appeals are still accepting donations of toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food and non-perishable food and in addition, the Ukraine group are desperately seeking good sized cardboard boxes which they use to pack donations, and the Homeless group are also accepting sleeping bags and clean warm clothes.

You can drop off donations for both appeals at any of our surgery sites during opening hours, and as usual, when dropping off items please mark your bags accordingly if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
